Brighton Beach Clean Organised By Surfers Against Sewage

Rainbow Brands were pleased to complete their first beach clean with Surfers Against Sewage this weekend in Brighton. It had been a few years since we last visited Brighton it was time we returned. What better reason than our first beach clean!

We set off early from Hertfordshire to make sure we made the 10am start by the Angel of Peace statue on the sea front. We signed in and armed with our Surfers Against Sewage bag, gloves and pickers we made for the beach for a couple of hours in search of plastic and rubbish.

The sun came out however, the wind was bitterly cold but nevertheless the experience was seriously rewarding, uplifting and communal. The sight of the sea itself is very relaxing coupled with the sound of pebbles underfoot is just brilliant especially when you have your little one on hand who will be 2 on the 5th November sharing new experiences.

The seagulls made us welcome with their friendly greetings and we saw the wind turbines in the sea in the distance that generate electricity.

After the clean we made our way to the high street and ventured in to the first coffee shop we could find hoping that we wouldn’t be disappointed. By pure chance we ventured upon Small Batch Coffee Roaster and had an amazing black coffee and muffin! In relaxing surroundings with my favourite type of music playing of funky disco I really couldn’t ask for more it was great!!!

Feeling warm again we headed back home. On our way we saw the sign for Nymans National Trust gardens and house. As members we thought we ought to stop to see what it was like as we hadn't been before. We first refuelled with jacket potato filled with cheese and beans most comforting before walking the gardens.

Our Saturday was one great big adventure filled with new experiences in the great outdoors.
