In 2012 MPOWERD®, with the help of its principal inventor Jason Alan Snyder, created Luci®, the first inflatable solar light with the goal of making an affordable clean energy product that people could use in any situation - from outdoor camping adventures to backyard parties to everyday living for people in emerging markets without electricity.

WHY?

With Luci, they were aiming for something much bigger than convenience. They want to empower the three billion people around the world who still live without reliable access to electricity. So they made a light that’s clean and safe – pretty much the opposite of the toxic and expensive kerosene lamps so many depend on – because life doesn’t stop after the sun goes down.

They founded MPOWERD on a sustainable business model that allows them to provide their clean and safe solar lights to people in developing countries at prices they can afford. MPOWERD, as a social enterprise, reinvest a majority of their gross revenues to achieve sustainability, grow their reach, and ensure the fulfillment of their mission.
