Water-to-Go is a portable water filtration system that eliminates over 99.9% of microbiological contaminants including viruses, bacteria, chemicals and heavy metals from any non-salt water source in the world. It is a great bit of kit when travelling and is a great way to reduce plastic consumption.

 

This means you can fill up from questionable tap water, mountain streams, canals or lakes to name a few and still be able to drink safe water without having to buy bottled water making it the ideal travel companion. 

 

The bottles come in 2 sizes either 50cl or 75cl and their respective filters each treats either 130 or 200 litres of water.  That’s the same as 260 or 400 single-use plastic water bottles!  If you drink 2 litres of water a day which is the recommended daily amount by the World Health Organization each filter will last you 2 months for the 50cl or 3 months for the 75cl.

 Unique 3-in-1 Filter Technology

 

The filters used in the BPA free water bottles are created based on technology originally developed for the NASA space programme. Three different technologies combine to remove over 99.9% of all microbiological contaminants in water.

 

The three technologies used in a Water-to-Go filter are:

 

1. Mechanical filtration; a very small pore size which stops contaminants passing through.

2. Electrical (by a positive charge) which reduces the pore size even further and attracts the contaminants like a magnet would, trapping them inside the filter.

3. Finally, the filters use activated carbon but instead of using adhesives to glue the carbon particles together, (which vastly reduces the carbon’s efficiency) it is contained within the membrane, helping to reduce contaminants whilst eliminating bad tastes and odours. The filters will eliminate harmful contaminants from the water but also allow the beneficial minerals such as sodium and magnesium to pass through leaving you with the healthiest water possible.

A key goal at Water-to-Go is to support the work of charities and their efforts in supporting the underprivileged. This can be on support for colleagues who travel abroad and need clean water to allow them to carry out their duties and mission, and to supporting fundraising with donations and prizes. To date, Water-to-Go have supported smaller organisations such as Child Aid Gambia right up to supplying Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) with Water to-Go products for their emergency packs.
