World Water Day 2019 #WWD2019

On World Water Day we’d like to feature the two water bottle brands that we sell. Not only are the products great but the brands are focused on increasing access to cleaner water. These two brands are Water to Go and Dopper.

Water is an essential building block of life. It is more than just essential to quench thirst or protect health; water is vital for creating jobs and supporting economic, social, and human development.

2019 Theme: Leaving no one behind

The theme for World Water Day 2019 is ‘Leaving no one behind,’ which is the central promise of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Sustainable Development Goal 6 aims to ensure availability and sustainable management of water for all by 2030. By definition, this means leaving no one behind.

Today, billions of people are still living without safe water, which means ‘safely managed drinking water service’: water that is accessible on the premises, available when needed, and free from contamination. Their households, schools, workplaces, farms and factories struggling to survive and thrive.

Marginalized groups – women, children, refugees, indigenous peoples, disabled people and many others – are often overlooked, and sometimes face discrimination, as they try to access and manage the safe water they need.

Water, a human right

To ‘leave no one behind’, we must focus our efforts towards including people who have been marginalized or ignored. Water services must meet the needs of marginalized groups and their voices must be heard in decision-making processes. Regulatory and legal frameworks must recognise the right to water for all people, and sufficient funding must be fairly and effectively targeted at those who need it most.

World Water Day is coordinated by UN-Water – the UN’s inter-agency collaboration mechanism for all freshwater related issues - in collaboration with governments and partners.

Dopper wants to live in a world where people are aware of the environment, where they actively reduce the amount of single-use plastic waste, and where everyone, close to home and far away, has access to safe drinking water.

With the reusable bottle design of high quality plastic and steel, Dopper contributes to the reduction of these environmental problems. Furthermore, Dopper encourages the use of tap water as a cheap and environmentally friendlier alternative to bottled water.

Dopper is officially certified as ‘B Corp’ (Benefit Corporation). The certification is awarded to businesses that have positive social and ecological impact, that take responsibility, are transparent in their practices, and contribute to the economy and the environment.

The Dopper Original has been Cradle to Cradle certified because:

· There are no toxic or prohibited substances (such as Bisphenol A) used in the bottle;

· The thermoplastics of which the bottle is made, are 100% recyclable;

· The Dopper is produced in a climate-neutral fashion, with responsible water and energy use;

· Old Doppers can be handed in at Dopper or at special plastics recycling points;

· The bottle makes a major contribution to reducing the global plastics problem;

· The Dopper Foundation contributes to drinking water projects worldwide.

Water to Go Water Filter Bottles

Water to Go Filter Bottles

Water-to-Go is a portable water filtration system that eliminates over 99.9% of microbiological contaminants including viruses, bacteria, chemicals and heavy metals from any non-salt water source in the world. It is a great bit of kit when travelling and is a great way to reduce plastic consumption.

This means you can fill up from questionable tap water, mountain streams, canals or lakes or even snow from a mountain and still be able to drink safe water without having to buy bottled water making it the ideal travel companion.

The bottles come in 2 sizes either 50cl or 75cl and their respective filters each treats either 130 or 200 litres of water. That’s the same as 260 or 400 single-use plastic water bottles! If you drink 2 litres of water a day which is the recommended daily amount by the World Health Organization each filter will last you 2 months for the 50cl or 3 months for the 75cl.

Water-to-Go ensures you have access to safe water when you’re ‘on-the-go’ without having to buy overpriced bottled water. The water tastes great better quality than your home tap water and tastes better too!

Water-to-Go water bottles deliver safe, clean drinking water at only 5p per litre.

Ethical and Sustainable

Water-to-Go seeks to protect customers’ health and well-being by offering safe, healthy water anywhere in the world; and to protect our planet by offering an environmentally friendly reusable alternative to single-use plastic water bottles. By using Water-to-Go products you’ll be healthier, wealthier and helping to make the World a better place!

A key goal at Water-to-Go is to support the work of charities and their efforts in supporting the underprivileged. This can be on support for colleagues who travel abroad and need clean water to allow them to carry out their duties and mission, and to supporting fundraising with donations and prizes. To date, Water-to-Go have supported smaller organisations such as Child Aid Gambia right up to supplying Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) with Water to-Go products for their emergency packs.

Stay safe keep buzzing!
